APERITIF 111

Negroni (gifted glass from Ed Hardy)

Having an aperitif on a weekend is always welcomed at our house. I like the idea of having neat alcohol beverage and something to nibble before dinner. I used to prepare myself a martini bianco with ice and lemon or contreau with orange peel but it’s since been replaced with negroni after being introduced to the drink in Italy. I like the bitterness and hint of sweetness of the drink and it’s a cocktail that’s easy to prepare just think of ‘111’, 1 part campari, 1 part gin, 1 part sweet vermouth. I like mine with lemon slice but an orange peel is also equally perfect. Anthony and I enjoyed this drink in the balcony while watching the sunset.

Ingredients: sweet vermouth, gin, camapari, lemon and ice

111 rule- 1 oz. campari, 1 oz. gin, 1 oz. sweet vermouth

Tip: use large ice cubes to get the cocktail to cool quickly without diluting the alcohol. I found this in Toronto and it’s pretty awesome. You can find them in Amazon here and here

Put a slice of lemon or orange peel
