Hello 2014! January is the time to welcome change and embrace new things yet to come. For me, January immediately comes with a new roll of belly fat as a result of my excessive feasting during the holidays. I’m now experiencing a new level of body discomfort and all I want to do is to hide myself in the largest of clothes (I may have also stolen Anthony’s jeans and sweater). Thank goodness oversized clothes is currently sartorially acceptable. Another tactic I plan to adopt is the art of distraction. Picking out ‘notice-me instead of my muffin top’ accessories like this cool earrings and complementing it with a purr-fect dramatic cat-eye using this Eyeko Eyeliner set
So here are my January must-have arsenals to keep you comfortable and stylish during this trying month of getting your body back in shape.
1. Alexa For Eyeko Limited Edition ‘Eye Do’ Set, $57: Raise your hand if you have trouble doing a cat-eye makeup like I do? This pen version will make it the eyeliner easy to apply. Watch this tutorial by none other than Alexa Chung.
2. Zara Cable Knit Sweater, $75: I’ll buy this oversized cable knit sweater in XL please! I plan on wearing it with leggings and an oversized coat.
3. Anine Bing Skinny Jeans, $199: It’s the go-to jeans of celebrities and I can see why. This jean is sturdy yet has a stretch and can hold its shape after a couple of wears.
4. Alexander Wang Lia cross-body bag, $1180: I’ve been eyeing this bag for a while as it’s the perfect cross body bag that is simply structured with an edge. I may be tempted to pull the trigger on this one and starve myself for a month.
5. Mango coat, $75: An oversized coat with clean lines. I like all the detailing in this coat including the funnel neck and the pockets on the side.
6. Adidas Originals Superstar sneakers, $70: Time to embrace sneakers again and this Adidas original is the only way to go.
7. Topshop Faux Fur Gilet,$75: I’ve been on a look out for a faux-fur gilet that I can throw on with a casual t-shirt or simple sweater and this one is perfect.
8. Sophie Bille Brahe earrings, $750: Gorgeous pair of pearl earring with an unexpected twist. It’s a bit pricey but will sure be a showstopper.
9. Moleskine 2014 planner, $16: I’m an old school when it comes to keeping schedules and being organized. I’ve been using this Moleskine planner since college and nothing beats it for me.
