Poker-straight Asian hair, please stand up! I’m sure you can agree with me that having Asian hair is both a blessing and a curse. Having to shower and go without worries of our hair frizzing is a big blessing, but then any hairstyle we do goes flat in 30 seconds. I’ve been growing my hair into a bob, hoping to style it into a swooshy wavy bob like Sienna Miler or Julianne Hough. I finally managed to recreate a version that works for me after testing a number of techniques and products, so I thought I’d show a wavy bob tutorial specifically for poker-straight hair like mine.
Products and tools:
Wide-tooth comb, GHD Hair Straightener, Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, Bumble and Bumble Sumotech, Klorane Dry Shampoo, Hair ties or clips, Blow dryer (optional).
Step 1: Spritz a small amount of surf spray to wet hair and comb hair to distribute products.
Step 2: Air dry hair or dry with a blow dryer, concentrating on the roots to give hair volume.
Step 3 and 4: Section hair with an elastic band or clip. Curl hair, starting from the bottom and work your way up.
Step 5 and 6: Keep curls intact by twisting the curls and use hairspray to hold the curls.
Step 7: Repeat the process on the other side.
Step 8: Slowly run your fingers through the curls to loosen it up.
Step 9: Part hair in the middle and spray with dry shampoo. This will give hair volume without any build up.
Step 10: Hand-comb through hair and part on the other side to create swoosh.
Step 11: Straighten ends with the hair straightener.
Step 12: To give hair piecy ends, work a tiny amount of wax on the ends of the hair.
Voila! I promise it’s much easier than it looks, this is to show you a detailed step-by-step.
What do you guys think?

Quick and easy! Wish I had thin straight hair. Btw, from where can I get dry shampoo in Doha? Thanks! 🙂
