Instead of throwing a party for my birthday, Anthony and I decided to spend a quite weekend at the W hotel for some quality time and much needed relaxation before I head off for 3 weeks. It was by far the best weekend staycation I’ve had with so many highlights and surprises from Anthony. It was a nice little escape and felt like we were on a holiday even though we were in Doha.

We checked in just in time for brunch and headed to the Market restaurant to have lunch, I was surprised to see my friends sat on a big table with their glasses of champagne ready to celebrate with me. You know you have a good husband if he can pull surprise like that! The celebration obviously lasted for 4 hours over food and excess champagne. The restaurant even brought me my favorite cucumber martini and a plate of dessert for my birthday.

We went to our room and crashed in their comfortable bed and took a nap (drinking and eating makes you really tired). We ended the night having a few drinks at Wahm and a late dinner.

Sleeping in the W bed feels like sleeping in a cloud, it was a struggle getting out of bed the next morning because all I wanted to do is to stay in bed the whole day. We relaxed by the pool where I got the chance to browse through my stack of magazines, took a nap, drank mojito and went for a dip.

Then it was all about the Bliss spa where I got pampered like a princess. I started with a manicure and pedicure and then a Triple Oxygen facial by my go-to skin therapist, followed by a couple’s massage in the spa’s BIP room complete with in-room Jacuzzi! After our massage, I found that they have prepared tea and a birthday cake for me (my third one), which was incredibly sweet.

After the massage, we felt very relaxed and our skin smooth, the only obvious thing to do is to stay in the room, watch a movie and order room service. We stayed in our bathrobes, opened a bottle of champagne and ended the night by watching a movie in bed.

It was not the birthday celebration I was accustomed and I’m happy to say that this was my best birthday ever. It was really worth staying in a hotel where they care about making sure you had a pleasant stay and everything was just perfect. Having to spend it with my husband is the best birthday gift ever.
