With Eid holidays around the corner, Anthony and I would typically pack our bags for an extended weekend getaway. This year is a little different as we are knee deep in getting our new house sorted; all that planning and research for our holiday was the last thing on our minds! However, it doesn’t mean that we’re not going to take advantage of the Eid holidays, it just means we’re doing something a little different this year – a refreshing family staycation at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
After our wonderful weekend stay at the hotel a couple of weeks ago, we are ready to go back again for more! We’ve found our little oasis here in Doha and it’s especially great for families who are looking to relax as well as engage in family-friendly activities with kids. We have a hyperactive 14-month old toddler and she absolutely had a blast at the hotel between splashing at the pool with her daddy all day and spending hours engaging with other kids at the Four Seasons Kid’s Club.
As parents, traveling with kids doesn’t entirely feel like a ‘holiday’ as you constantly have to have one eye peeled on them. Somehow we managed to find the perfect balance between having some alone time and spending time with Naomi. At the end of our family staycation, Anthony and I agreed that we should be doing it more often… So, staying in Doha over the Eid holiday is not so shabby after all, especially since we now know that there is a perfect, luxurious family escape waiting for us, just a 30 minute drive away.
If you’re curious as to what made this weekend stay special for us, let me tickle your fancy and give you a small taste of what awaits you when you decide to book a family staycation at the Four Sesaons Hotel Doha.
There’s no need to lug around a travel crib and a trunk full of baby equipment, the Four Seasons Hotel Doha made sure that the room felt like home. Our ambassador suite had a spacious living and sleeping area that was separated by French double doors. A baby crib was set up for us with a few baby essentials such as nappies; baby bath products and even slippers. Our little one quickly dozed off in her crib while I put my feet up on the sofa and admired the sea view and the stunning structure of Nobu restaurant.
After settling into our room, it was time to head down to the pool for an afternoon dip. We are very cautious when it comes to Naomi being exposed to the sun but by mid-afternoon, the sun was behind the hotel providing the ideal shade for us to splash around for hours and hop around the Hotel’s three different outdoor pools. Naomi felt right at home at the children’s pool as she watched the other kids slide down the water slide. After hours of fun, our little one was tuckered out and ready for a snack so we ordered a few nibbles that were brought directly to our sun beds.
We gave Naomi a bath and tucked her in the crib with very little hesitation. We closed the double doors and Anthony and I ordered room service. Ordering room service is one of our favorite things to do when we stay at a hotel and we usually order the same thing – spaghetti Bolognese and a cheeseburger!
I indulged by treating myself to my go-to Biologique Recherche facial at the Four Seasons’ Spa and Wellness Center. The facial is customized and personalized to target all your skin’s needs. I left with luminous skin and a rejuvenated feeling – it’s just what a mama needs.
One of the highlights of a family staycation at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha is spending an afternoon brunching in style. Four Seasons Hotel is one of our favorite brunch destinations, especially Nobu. This time around, we decided to sample the delicious spreads offered at Elements, Arabica and Il Teatro and to take advantage of the free access to the hotel’s Kid’s Club.
I’m sure every parent knows the struggle to keep a toddler entertained and occupied when eating out; luckily, the Four Seasons Kid’s Club kept Naomi entertained with a number of kid-friendly activities. It was a very rare occasion that Anthony and I were able to sit and enjoy a good 4 hours at brunch and manage to feed Naomi at the kid’s table. She may have been having more fun than us, eating pasta and chicken nuggets with her new friends! I can’t imagine ever going to brunch anywhere else after this blissful experience.
On our last day at the hotel, we decided to spend the morning relaxing in our room. We treated ourselves to a delectable breakfast spread, which was included in the room rate. Nothing that says ‘luxury holiday’ quite like enjoying a full breakfast in a plush bathrobe. We took our time and enjoyed all the amenities that our ambassador suite had to offer before we packed our bags to head to our new home.
A weekend family staycation at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha left all of us feeling relaxed and happy… and eager to do it again soon!
If anyone is looking to book a staycation, the Four Seasons Hotel Doha is offering a complimentary third night stay with every two consecutive nights in one of their spacious suites.
