Gingham trend dominated summer’s fashion trend. It’s one of the trends I tried to steer clear from for its direct nod to 50s fashion, even the fashionably daring ones can walk the fine line of looking sartorially appropriate to costume-y.
But the fashion weakling such as I could not resist the temptation especially when masters like Altuzurra and Micheal Kors create modern renditions of this picnic blanket fabric. Better yet, give me a pair of gingham culottes and I’m at the mercy of the gingham gods. I have not parted ways with this pair since purchasing it and it has proved to be the perfect travel companion for its wrinkle-free soft fabric.
We touched down to Montreal for a day and wore my gingham culottes for a day out in the city. I paired it with a vintage denim jacket that I had customized (DIY post to follow) and my trusty beaten up red chucks. I felt slightly vintage-looking yet appropriate for Montreal.
I pack my gingham culottes and will be taking it with me as I transport myself back in time in Cuba. This trend could not be more fitting for the country so watch this space…
