I typically gravitate towards no makeup makeup look. It’s far departure to my experimental days in college where I used to rock a smokey eye at university, and a metallic blue eyeshadow look on a night out. Although my preference has completely been paired down, my love for makeup still holds true. I love reading magazine articles and go into a trance watching YouTube videos on makeup techniques and how to do a specific look (here’s my favorite channel in case you’re wondering).
In fact, I watched Dior’s Cruise 2016 collection show on YouTube and stumbled upon all their makeup tutorials done by Peter Philips. Let’s just say I didn’t move out of the couch for hours and went deep into their videos archive.
The one collection that particularly caught my eye was the Dior Tie Dye makeup collection. It’s such a fun collection and a unique take on summer beauty. I love that it’s fun to apply, swirling all the colors together. Inspired by this collection, I decided to create my own rendition of this summer look with a bold blue color on my lower lash line. Here’s how to create this look:
[L-R]: Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation, Dior Addict Lip Glow, Dior Topcpat Tie Dye, Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye in Pink Sunrise, Dior Tie Dye 5 Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Contraste Horizon, Dior Eye Reviver Palette, Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Bleached Turquoise, Dior Addict Tie Dye lipstick in Red Bliss and Hypnotic Plum
Step 1: Moisturize lips with Dior Addict Lip Glow. This not only hydrates but brings out and enhance the natural color of your lips.
Step 2: Apply a small amount foundation with a foundation brush. I’m hooked on Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation because of its weightless, and velvety finish. It really doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any foundation.
Step 3: After applying foundation, apply concealer (Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage) under the eye on an inverted ice cream cone shape and smooth with a concealer brush. Dab a small amount of concealer around the nose area to cancel out any redness. A yellow tone concealer helps evens out skin tone.
Step 4: Using an angled brush, fill in eyebrows (Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade) in feathery stroke movement.
Step 5: Prep your eyes by applying eyeshadow primer (Dior Eye Reviver Palette) all over the lids all the way to the brow bone.
Step 6: Sweep a shimmery gold powder (Dior Tie Dye 5 Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Contraste Horizon) across the eyelids with an eyeshadow brush.
Step 7: Using a shimmery bronzed eyeshadow (Dior Tie Dye 5 Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Contraste Horizon), contour eyes by following the natural shape of your eyelids and blend in a circular motion with a blending brush.
Step 8: Using the bright blue eyeshadow in Dior’s Tie Dye 5 Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Contraste Horizon, apply eyeshadow on the lower lash line using an angled brush.
Step 9: With the same shimmery gold eyeshadow used for the lids, dot a small amount on the inner corners of the eye to open up the eyes.
Step 10: To bring out blue eyeshadow, compliment it with Diorshow’s Iconic Mascara in Bleached Turquoise in Turquoise. Apply two coats in the upper and lower lashes.
Step 11: Swirl kabuki brush on Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye in Pink Sunrise and apply blush on the apples of the cheeks all the way to the cheekbone.
Step 12: Apply Dior Addict Tie Dye lipstick in Red Bliss on lips.
